Norway Days 2-3

FLAM & VOSS

Day 2- After getting a refreshing night’s sleep, we were all set to go to our first Airbnb destination. We departed from Geilo Hotel and decided to make a quick visit to charming Flam. Flam is an adorable village located in Norway, which happens to be a very popular travel destination. We found a large souvenier shop, a few food trucks, grocery store, and a few restaurants all in one spot. There is a fjord cruise available from Flam to Gudvangen. You can explore a viking village once you arrive to Gudvangen. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance or online.

Jason and I decided to grab lunch from Furukroa Kafe and sit outside to admire the fjord’s stunning scenery. The soup servings at the restaurant were really generous, and they were absolutely delicious!

Once we had finished our lunch we looked around town and then got back on the road so we could find our next accommodation.

Our Airbnb rental was located at Voss Ski Resort. It was a great location with an incredible view! Our accommodation was conveniently located near town and grocery stores. However, it was disappointing that towels and bed linens were not included. Fortunately, we were able to rent them from the ski resort office nearby and it was a very easy process.

Tip- if renting from this rental, make sure to find out what the ski resort office hours are beforehand so you can grab your bed linens and towels on time.

Day 3

Bergen was on our list of places to visit while we were in Norway, but since we didn’t have an itinerary in place, we realized last minute that this was the day to fit it into our visit. The drive was only an hour and 40 minutes away from our stay so we made a fun day of it. We found a parking garage that was only a few blocks away from the popular fish market in Bergen. The market had a few restaurants in it with plenty of food and dessert choices. We saw a lot of seafood options to choose from. After a quick tour we decided to kill some time by booking a fjord cruise with Rodne Fjord Cruise. There is an information desk above the fish market that can book the tour for you, or you can take a short walk across from the market and book your ticket at the booth.

During the fjord cruise booking process, we were informed that there were only a few snack offerings on board so it was recommended that we bring our own food or snacks if we wanted to, so we headed back downstairs to browse our options. We were really happy with all the choices we had. There were so many things to choose from!

The Bergen-Mostraumen cruise was 3 1/2 hrs from Bergen to Mostraumen and back. The duration of the cruise was just right as it allowed us enough time to explore other areas the city had to offer.

After the cruise, we walked around the city for a little bit and explored the Bryggen Hansa Quarter. There were a lot of old wooden buildings in this area which made it very unique. We found a very cool Irish Bar to hang out at and used this time to figure out where we wanted to go eat dinner.

We headed back toward the Ferry tour and fish market and ended up at Harbour Cafe. The menu had a great variety of burgers, sandwiches, and appetizers. We ordered their mussels and chicken burger and MY GOODNESS, the mussels were fantastic. This was a great way to end our time in Bergen.

On our way home we were stuck in traffic because there were a few tunnels being worked on due to construction. A big tip here is to download a driving app if possible or understand that construction could still be going on at night. It took us an extra hour to get back to our stay. On a positive note, we had a great day!
